A little help from my friends?

As I said in my previous journal entry, I am finishing up my album. I am need of some help with logo design for my name and also a genre logo.

***Please keep in mind that you are doing this for your portfolio use, or we can trade some retouching or MySpace Custom profile. I will also need full rights to use the logos on any materials on the web or print, merchandise etc. We can sign an agreement if that makes you feel more comfortable***

Details are:
I am looking to have 2 logos designed.

The first one is for my name and will go on my new CD artwork and possibly some other merchandise and my web site. The second is for a new music genre I want to create a logo for. This will also go on the album artwork and maybe merchandise and my web site.

But unfortunately I don't have budget to pay him what he is asking.

So I wondered if maybe someone out there would be open to doing this as a trade?

I'll do photo retouching (several images) or design you a really cool MySpace profile in trade for the logos and permissions to use them wherever I want. I'll also send you an autographed copy of my CD.

This is what I am looking for specifically:

Concept 1: Name Logo
A logo for my name (Natalie Brown). This may or may not be used on the album cover. It will most likely go on my site or maybe on the back of the album as I think my name will be in plain text. I haven't done the artwork yet, so I'm not sure.

For the branding, I am going for a down to earth look. The logo should avoid Pop diva trappings of all kinds. I want it to look cool, but not 'teen'. Think: college, sweet, soulful, fun, funky, down-to-earth-girl-next-door.

The kind of look I want is creative. I would like the name to be readable, it can incorporate my initials NB if you want. I just want something cool looking. Some of the logos I've seen that i like are:

This is all my old material. The new music is still Pop, but with more of an organic and soulful feel to it. My whole branding is sweet, soulful, pop. So maybe that will help with ideas? I hope so! I don't have the latest new music up as we aren't publicly releasing it till April 22nd.

Concept 2: Genre Logo
The genre we are branding for the new album is Pop & Soul... it's a play on "Rock n' Roll". We want the "&" sign in the logo for sure. Maybe you could play with use a Treble Clef as the "&". That might be a neat idea. Basically I think we'd need to use 2 different fonts. One for Pop and the other for Soul. The colors I think should be in the earth tones, or something like that, but do what you feel works. You could maybe combine grunge with clean. I have looked at some soul logos and I like a retro font for that, but I'm open. I would like the logo to be contained within a shape... such as a circle, oval, rounded square or a square. Or if you find something to layer the text on such as a cool vector that embodies the feel of Pop and Soul. We want the logo to be appealing to both males and females and for it to look really cool. Something you would want to wear on a shirt or hat, but something that also looks good on the internet. The thing we need to avoid is it looking juvenile. Most of the fanbase is college age and up, so it would need to appeal to a cool/trendy adult, across all races.

I like the logo in the pink circle, and I also like the one that looks like it's in brackets. I also like how the e was put backwards, that kind of thing is really cool (I don't like the ones where the letters are all mixed up, because you can't really read the type at first glance)

Love the backwards letter concept (this might be cool also for my name logo)... also like how there is a mixture of shape and no shape at top in second logo design

I like the oval shapes and how the 2 tones are used. The tree is really cool too.

General Specs:
The logo may be used on T-Shirts (color and BW), it may also get used on other things such as hats or mugs. We haven't decided yet what merch we are getting. So just keep in mind multiple formats of 'canvas' when you do your design.

File Format and Size Needed:
I'll need the file to be 300dpi and I will need it to be transparent, so AI or PSD would work, even layered PNG would be great. The most important thing is that I need the layered file so that I can make any changes, change colors if necessary etc. Basically I need a layered file that is 300dpi or better in resolution.

The size needs to be large enough to fit on a T-shirt:
T-Shirt Sizes are:
# horizontal: 2100 x 1800 pixels = 14" x 12"
# vertical: 1800 x 2100 pixels = 12" x 14"
